In a very serious sense, the project I am about to reveal has been in development for many years. This isn’t a statement that I make lightly as it points to a very serious sequence of events that while not being a part of, I was directly connected to. I’ll ask you now to understand why I must be vague in how I present this part of the story to you - its contents are sensitive - and I promise to offer you more information as it develops.
In the summer of 2013 five American and four Canadian citizens were arrested and subsequently tried for what is now recognised as a case of historical significance to the financial world, and even if it remains unknown to most people, it was referred to by U.S. Justice Officials as the “biggest” of its kind in history.
The case spanned four years and five countries; it required the concerted efforts of a number of international law-enforcement agencies including the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), and The Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP). The implications to the financial and business world were astronomical and left a mark on the opportunity of investment and trading. The story, as it should be told (before and after the legal proceedings that started in 2013) has all the components of a powerful drama, a saga that when given enough attention has the ability to transform how we see human behaviour and communication. It can teach us about survival, love, healing and the need to pay attention to the world around us.
Of the nine individuals originally involved in this case, two are personal friends of mine…
One of them is related to me through a different relationship, and the other has become a trusted mentor and advisor. Our relationships have lasted twenty years and the conversations we’ve had together rival the contents of the best self-help, personal growth and social psychology books out there. There is an incredible sense of wisdom in their story; there is so much that can help others in the way these men see themselves and those around them. As I said before, this story has the power to transform lives.
This is the project I want to reveal: these men, who moved the world, who are considered an important part of financial history, trust me to help them tell their story. After being approached by a number of large production companies and publications we have decided that the integrity of the story and those involved can only be protected independently.
It is important to understand that our objective isn’t to romanticise any negative aspects of the case or story; rather, to show the transformative power of sharing complex experiences properly.
